The School of History proudly announces that Dr Aditya Balasubramanian has been awarded $477,039 for his project Roads and Road Transport in India: An Environmental and Economic History, presented under the Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme.

Dr Balasubramanian will investigate how road building and transportation have spurred economic progress and environmental change in India. In doing so, he will use India’s experiences to provide insights for Australia on confronting environmental impacts in future infrastructure planning, helping policymakers ensure an effective transition to alternative energy sources.

The DECRA scheme supports outstanding early-career researchers in undertaking excellent and innovative research designed to address a significant problem or gap in knowledge.

Congratulations Aditya!
